Description: Several different motifs are at play in Jonathan Kirk's Pagoda Pavilion. Yes, the Japanese Pagoda, but also the Norwegian Stave Church and the Western Pavilion. These influences combine with Kirk's tendency to approach industrial shapes and materials with curiosity and whimsy. The result is fantastical in form and brightly colored, yet elegant. Painted orange, it stands out in sharp contrast against the blues, greens, browns, and greys of the surrounding environment. It invites you to come and use it as a gazebo, seeking shelter or shade. When seated on the built-in benches within, you can look up into the details of the receding ceiling or out onto the landscape.
